Based in McKees Rocks, a suburb of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, Northern Sound & Light (NSL) specializes in the sales and support of professional audio, stage lighting and theatrical supplies. NSL offers more buying power, bigger savings coupled with the convenience of one-stop shopping. NSL's legendary award winning customer service means that customers always get a live person on the phone and are never, ever automatically dumped into voicemail. At NSL, the belief is that the best service means repeat business and a long-term relationship with our customers.

Founded by company president Steve Raslevich in 1990, NSL's reputation and knowledge is based on hands-on touring and install experience. The staff at NSL have diverse backgrounds, are detail-oriented and know the right questions to ask to find the right product for your needs. And since NSL supports product lines from over fifty manufacturers, we have the flexibility to support everything from concerts, to musical theater, to houses of worship and live tours.

NSL also believes that the customer makes the final informed decision. Our sales staff will walk you through the NSL web site, utilizing it like a virtual show room. That's why we've invested the time to assemble the most comprehensive source for technical data on all of the products we sell. For added convenience, we've gathered and assembled manufacturers' data into one easy-to-compare format and included additional information where needed.
 

A Brief History
1990 - Northern Sound & Light is incorporated. The fledgling company's sole focus is to provide gear and engineers for live shows.
 
1992 - The company moves into a 4,800 square foot warehouse. NSL is still concentrating their efforts into live shows. NSL also acquires a local theatrical lighting company that added lights to NSL's show offerings.
 
1993 - NSL receives it's first sales and service award from a major manufacture, Leprecon Lighting.
 
1994 – NSL gains a major customer, Di'Ceasar-Engler Productions, who provides three to six major concerts per week. NSL also branches out into providing gear for off-Broadway shows on tour in North America and Canada.
 
1995/96 – The Internet gains mainstream popularity. NSL establishes a web site to use as a virtual business card and as a tool to promote the pro audio and lighting products they use and sell.
 
1999 – Thanks to search engines like Yahoo and Google, people all over the world were discovering NSL. As a result, the company begins to focus more on sales and less on live shows.
 
2001 – NSL purchases and moves to a 6,800 square foot facility in McKees Rocks, PA (our current location).
 
2002 – NSL adds stage decking to its offerings and upgrades audio offerings to include a Meyer Sound Labs line array speakers. NSL also receives two sales and performance awards from two major U.S. manufacturers, Leprecon Lighting and Meyer Sound Labs.
   
2003 – NSL decides to transition to focus on sales rather than live productions.  The company receives the Leviton/NSI dealer of the year award for 2002.
2004 – NSL's transition from live production to sales is nearly complete. The company increases staff and resale inventory. NSL also receives additional sales and performance wards from several major manufacturer's including Sennheiser and Horizon Music.
 
2005 – NSL's reputation of offering top name brands, award winning service at the maximum discount price continues to grow. Numerous pro lines and additional staff and inventory are added. The company also receives the 2004/2005 dbx achievement award.  
 
2007 – NSL launches stage one of the NSL Online Buyers Club , a shopping cart system that provides customers the convenience of checking NSL's famous "Maximum Discount Prices" and the ability to order products online previously only available by phone or email due to many manufacturer's advertising price policies.
 
Present day - NSL still to this day provides production services for the occasional U.S. off broadway theater Tour. However, NSL's primary focus is to provide great gear at a great price to customers in the United States and its territories. With an average of 75,000 visitors and over 250,000 page views per month, NSL's web site remains a premier source for professional audio and lighting product information on the Internet today.
